Regarding the current Trapped log

The mod team has noticed that while there was quite a lot of action on the plotting post, things are moving a bit more slowly on the actual log. This was a rough week for many of us and we completely understand needing some time to decompress, and also that work schedules sometimes keep things slower during the week, but we also feel that there may be a logistical problem at work that we’d like to address.

Many groups have multiple players who have posted top levels that have not yet been tagged. Again this may be because of some work week and stressful week slow time but we also worry that this may be from a lack of communication between group members. We get it, this is a different setup than we usually have here, so we thought it best to offer a reminder that you may need to make firmer plans to get things accomplished in your trapped locations.

If you previously made plans on the plotting post, please be sure to check in with the rest of your group as to who should be tagging whom. While on a normal post open toplevels can sometimes work well for trying to get new CR, with these smaller groups we may need a little push to get everyone moving. No one should assume that just because you have written a toplevel, people know to tag into it — they may be expecting the same thing of you. Finally, please remember to be patient with each other and considerate of the stress of the last few days for many.

Here are links to the plotting sections for each location if you have not yet visited or recently reviewed the conversations happening there: Boarding House, New House, Mystery Mansion, Grey Gull

Please also be sure to chat with each other about the outcome of your threads if you intend to move on to the final 2 days in the log before finishing earlier things. We don't want anyone having to deal with backtracking and messed up continuity for your characters. If you are waiting for something from the mod, all of those requests will be gotten to today; it's been a rough week for her too.

Because this week has been so stressful and there's still a lot of writing to be done in these closed locations, this log is going to last 3 weeks instead of what has been the usual 2 weeks. That means the next log is currently scheduled to be posted the weekend of January 23rd.

First, I just wanna say that I do super appreciate the acknowledgement and understanding of how heavy this week has been, for various reasons. I've had some things come up in my personal life this week that really shook me and definitely affected my tag ability (and that's not counting the non-RP, news-worthy stuff we all know happened this week, too). So: Thanks for understanding on that front!

Wrt the locked locations thing, I actually find it easier to tag, in some ways. I think that's mostly because it limits, at least for those few days, who you can tag for that period and can result in a more manageable tag load than a more wide-open style log does, at times. Not that either is any better or less than the other, I like both styles, and would totally be down for more things like this in the future. I like the shake-up in CR these kind of events offer!

You mentioned a logistical issue with the tag speed for this log, but I wasn't sure what that meant. Is there something in particular that makes this log more time-sensitive? I haven't noticed much difference from prior logs, myself. Perhaps in the future, we could all discuss these things more casually among ourselves, rather than making what feels like a very pointed call-out mod post shaming people's tag-speed.

On a more personal note, I feel like I've been perfectly clear in communicating the fact that I tag primarily on the weekends, and am slow to non-existent during the traditional Mon-Fri work-week. So, I'll just put out there that if my tag speed or availability in any way hinders your plans, please feel free to speak to me privately so we can come to an agreement of how to deal that.

Thanks again, for being understanding of the hectic week we've all had on one level or another.

Ayyo, this is Stars.

So, I wanted to address some things about this first. Since this log was a brainchild of all three of us, I think I can help clear some things up.

There's no time-sensitivity to the log.

However, there is the fact that the game does move at a certain pace. There are 4 days for OVERVIEW LOG 24-27. Some people want to start working on their Days 26/27 next week, but feel that they are still in limbo with plots that are happening on Day 24/25. This isn't about tagging, this is about communication. It's a reminder to communicate with everyone in the group that you are trapped in with, as the idea and purpose of this log was to find new CR and branch your character at different people than they would normally.

This is not shaming tag speed. Period. As noted in the post, the week has been rough for numerous people. However, the game has grown, and people are in various timezones now. This is simply the mod team asking that people keep communication in mind with older and newer players alike. Reach out and make sure things are still on.

I'm going to say this once. This was not a targeted post. This is a general game reminder. Things are always a bit rough around the edges during and post-holidays. Communication in this game is key in and out of character by the nature of its tabletop roots. Even I, Stars as a player, needs to do better at communicating things. It's a skill and something for us to just keep in mind as we all ramp back up into things going forward from the holidays.

If there are further questions about it or concerns, I'll be around to discuss this in private. Hopefully this cleared the air on certain things.

First, I want to say: I don't particularly appreciate the tone in this response. Nothing struck more of a chord in me than: I'll say this once. I am not a child being admonished by their mother. I'm an adult. I'd appreciate being spoken to as one.

I took the mention of logistics, the blatant point to the fact that some people's TLs don't have responses yet, and the concern about continuity errors to mean that something must, in some way, be time-sensitive for this log.

It seems a rather logical conclusion, when the point, as I understand it, is that the concern about those things is so high that an entire extra week is being added for the log, due to Days 26/27 threads being prevented from even being started due to Days 24/25 threads not being completed in a timely enough manner, which circles back to why this comes across as being a call out to people's tag speeds.

Something, somewhere, for someone, must be hinging very hard on Days 24/25 leading into Days 26/27 for it to warrant a mod post. If that is not the case, I am failing to understand why it is such a concern with this log in particular, when forward and backdating things within previous overview logs has not been such an issue.

I agree. Communication is everything in this hobby and people definitely don't do enough of it, as a whole. I think I personally express delays on my end in a pretty consistent manner. I agree, if anyone is concerned over their plans being held up in some way... they should absolutely talk to the player or players involved directly.

If any of this somehow comes across crass or rude in any way, I do apologize, I am simply trying to understand all of this, and as well, trying to show that some things, when added together, came across as a certain way to me reading this post in the first place.

As previously stated, there is no time sensitivity involved in this log. No one has been prevented from moving forward with later threads. Players have simply been reminded to touch base with each other involving prior plans and to ensure healthy communication with each other.

If you have further questions or concerns on this topic, please direct them to the mod contact post.
